Clinging to a hope of a podium finish this Saturday on the sidelines of the first race of the weekend, Jules Gounon had finally failed. This Sunday morning, the Frenchman made up for it and can afford to aim for a very good result again. With a best time set in 1'21"072, the driver of the Mercedes-AMG Team Mann-Filter did not improve on the time set by Ben Green the day before (1'20"893), but secured first place for this afternoon's race.

In a session that once again saw numerous warm-up laps, Joran Pepper once again missed out on first place by a few minor margins. Initially third in Saturday's qualifying session, then reclassified second after Ben Green's disqualification, the Lamborghini driver is less than a tenth behind this morning. Already second in yesterday's race, the South African will likely try to push harder to clinch victory.

Behind this leading duo, the times were all set in very close order. Thierry Vermeulen and his Ferrari of the Emil Frey Racing team will start third, and will try to salvage the honor of the disqualification suffered by his teammate this Saturday. Further back, just four tenths of a second off pole, Lucas Auer (Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf), the winner of the first race, will start eighth. In total, 19 drivers set a time under the minute 22.

To close this first meeting DTM of the season on the Oschersleben circuit, this Sunday's race will start at 13:30 p.m. (French time).
