René Rast flies over the C2 of Zandvoort

The BMW driver didn't need to be asked twice to make the Zandvoort victory a mere formality. Schubert Motorsport even scored a one-two finish with Marco Wittman's second place. The two men were joined on the podium by Thomas Preining.

René Rast flies over the C2 of Zandvoort

This weekend in Zandvoort in DTM was a bit special, since many drivers made the round trip to Sarthe to allow them to take part in free practice 1 and 2 of the big week of 24 Hours of Le MansJules Gounon and Jack Aitken made the trip to ensure they didn't miss a thing in the two disciplines they're involved in. René Rast started the race from pole position for the 26th time in his career. The two-time DTM champion was untroubled during a race in which he led every lap.

Jules Gounon (Winward Racing) finished 8th in a round where he was again penalized, this time for excessive speed in the pits. In the championship standings, Lucas Auer (Team Landgraf) remains the leader, ahead of René Rast, who is 16 points behind the Austrian. Jules Gounon is 4th, 18 points behind. The next DTM event is July 4-6 on the Norisring street circuit.
