The TCR Europe is entering the home stretch. After Monza, only Barcelona will be left to decide the 2021 title. Franco Girolami is the fiercest opponent for Mikel Azcona. The Argentinian did better than defend his chances after pole position, as he won Race 1 of this Italian weekend. Nestor Girolami's little brother rides like his elder on a Honda Civic TCR. The PSS Racing driver, before this weekend, was 37 points behind Mikel Azcona (Cupra Léon Competicion).

The Spaniard knows that to win his second title, he must be consistent and score points in each outing. The Cupra driver started in seventh position in this first round of the weekend. As usual, the Spaniard from Volcano Motorsport shows his enthusiasm. He finds himself after a few loops in the exhaust of the Argentinian's Civic TCR. The two men then engaged in a sumptuous battle which ended in the last loop with a gap of two tenths to the advantage of Girolami.

If the two leaders of the championship took the first two places, the race was tormented and agitated for the other headliners of TCR Europe. Thus Tom Coronel (Audi RS3 LMS) finished third in a round during which he fought hard with Dusan Borkovic (Audi RS3 LMS) and Jimmy Clairet (Peugeot 308 TCR).
