After two and a half months of summer break, the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) returns to the track, in Asia. Friday, Thed Bjork (Hyundai) dominated the free practice sessions held in Ningbo (China). The ultimate WTCC world champion twice set the best time, and each time was ahead of other Hyundai i30 N belonging to the BRC Racing Team (Norbert Michelisz then Gabriele Tarquini).

The four-time world champion in the discipline (WTCC) Yvan muller (Hyundai) only completed three laps in FP1 due to a power steering problem. The Alsatian then recovered with the 12th time.

Among the other adventures, we note a collision with Pepe Oriola (Cupra) and Jean Karl Vernay (Audi) during an EL2 installation lap. The latter also caused a red flag after breaking down at the side of the track. Esteban Guerrieri (Honda) crashed into the gravel before damaging his steering column.
