Inducted in 2020, the title of rookie of the year (beginner) only lasted a short year. Time for Belgian Gilles Magnus to win on his WTCR debut.
For this new season, the organizers have decided to rename the award the Junior Driver Title. Drivers aged 24 or under on January 1, 2021 and who have not taken part in a race before 2019 will be eligible. The one with the most points at the end of the year will be crowned.
Another new feature for this 2021 season is the Women’s Driver Title. This initiative was validated during the FIA World Motor Sport Council. This award is subject to the registration of at least three women in the next WTCR campaign.
