Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai) a signé le meilleur temps dans la première séance d’essais du WTCR au Slovakiaring. Le Hongrois a devancé de 33 millièmes Ma Qing Hua (Alfa Romeo) while Tom Coronel (Cupra) completed the top three ahead of Daniel Haglöf (Cupra).
Jean-Karl Vernay (Audi) finished in 8th place just behind Tiago Monteiro (Honda). Aurélien Panis (Cupra) ranked 16th. Yann Ehrlacher (Lynk & Co) took 22nd position, two places ahead of his uncle Yvan Muller (Lynk & Co) who preceded Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen).
Leader Nestor Girolami (Honda) set the 13th fastest time, four positions behind his direct rival Esteban Guerrieri (Honda).
