Author of two victories during the first half of the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) season, Thed Bjork (Hyundai) will struggle to score a third success in Race 1 on Saturday morning in Slovakia. The reigning WTCC champion received a penalty for changing the engine on his Yvan Muller Racing i30 N.

The Swede, fourth in the general classification, will be forced to start from the back of the grid at the stroke of noon at the Sloviaka Ring. The two men of Sébastien Loeb Racing, Rob Huff and Mehdi Bennani (Volkswagen) and John Filippi (Cupra), escaped a penalty but also replaced their block. The three pilots claimed “a case of force majeure”, en the occurrence of the enormous damage caused by the pileup in Vila Real (Portugal).
