René Rast (Audi) was the fastest during the two WTCR test sessions held on the Nordschleife Nürburgring in rainy weather.
The Wilcard entered with Audi Sport Leopard Lukoil Team completed a best lap in 9'29''163, ahead of Sébastien's Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR by more than a second Loeb Racing entrusted to Rob Huff and Mehdi Bennani. Reigning TCR International Series champion Jean-Karl Vernay (Audi) followed more than four seconds behind.
The first session was marked by the spin of Gordon Shedden (Audi) which damaged his RS 3 LMS at Hatzenbach and by the accident of Zsolt Zsabo (Cupra) at Hohe Acht two minutes from the flag at checkerboard.
