Due to its length and technicality, the northern loop of the Nürburgring, the Nordschleife, involves specific regulations in the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) season. It is in fact the only track where Code 60 is applied. Cars must travel at 60 km/h due to an accident or a stationary vehicle.

This is what Andy Priaulx (Lynk & Co) and Jean-Karl Vernay (Audi) did not respect, both penalized several times on the starting grid for Race 1 (start Friday June 21 at 17:30 p.m.). This is hardly crucial for the Englishman, who had set the 17th fastest time and who will start 24th, but it is much more so for the Frenchman. The Team WRT driver recorded the seventh fastest time; he will start 16th, out of the points.
