On the final lap of Gatorade Duel 1, one of the two races determining the composition of the starting grid for the Daytona 500 which will take place on Sunday, Danica Patrick was the victim of a major crash. An accident of which she was the unfortunate victim after she was hit by Aric Almirola, himself pushed by Jamie McMurray. Unluckily, there was more fear than harm for the young woman, but her Chevrolet Impala from Stewart-Haas Racing finished in a sad state.
