The final race of the 2021 WTCR season was marked by numerous accidents on the wet Sochi track. The most notable is probably the one between Mikel Azcona, in the lead and winner of the first race a little earlier in the day, and Yvan Muller, the pole sitter. While the Safety Car had disappeared and the Basque was about to restart the race, he was harpooned while braking on the last corner by the French driver. Both drivers were forced to retire.
