The organizers of the World Touring Car Championship have indicated that Gabriele Tarquini, Tiago Monteiro and Tom Coronel will not be eligible to compete in the Yokohama Independents' Trophy. All three represent private teams, respectively Sunred for the first two and ROAL (former official BMW team) for the last, but it has been stipulated that their past performances are taken into consideration. However, the Italian was World champion in 2009, the Portuguese driver of Formula 1 and the Dutchman twice winner of the Trophy. In the Sunred clan, on the other hand, Fredy Barth, Aleksei Dudukalo, Pepe Oriola and Michel Nykjaer will be able to claim it for the first time with a Seat Leon TDI.
