It was the latest tremor in a particularly seismic May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Second-place finisher Marcus Ericsson was simply disqualified, as was his Andretti teammate, Kyle Kirkwood, who finished sixth. Both drivers were penalized during post-Indy 500 scrutineering for using unapproved spacers and parts on the power management system covers supplied by Dallara.

The two men were officially credited with 31st and 32nd places in the event (Callum Ilott's Prema was also disqualified for having a low front wing). This Friday, as the field prepares to compete in the Detroit Grand Prix, the Andretti team confirmed that it will not appeal these sanctions.

"After a thorough analysis with theIndyCar "Following the technical violations reported at the Indianapolis 500, we accept the penalties imposed and will not appeal. While we are disappointed with this outcome, we will implement the necessary measures to ensure we remain in full compliance with the regulations. We would like to thank our fans, our sponsors and everyone who continues to support us. Our focus now turns to achieving good results on track, starting this weekend with the Detroit Grand Prix."
