On Victor Martins' favorite circuit, the Frenchman failed to secure the fastest time by a whisker. Jak Crawford (Dams) set the pole position time in 1:43, ahead of ART Grand Prix driver and championship leader Leonardo Fornaroli (Invincta Racing).
Among the events of this session, John Bennett (Van Amersfoort Racing) caused a red flag five minutes from the end of these qualifications, losing the rear of his car moments after complaining of discomfort due to the presence of cables in his seat.
A qualification session rich in lessons
While the first real time of the session was set by Sebastian Montoya (Prema) in 1:44:982, the clock saw a large number of times ticking by at the top of the table. Among the observations to note for the race and qualifying in the other disciplines, several drivers suffered the law of the third sector, which is often costly for lap times.
Indeed, despite steady improvements in the first two sections, notably from Gabriele Mini (Prema), the Italian driver repeatedly lost more than five tenths of a second in his final laps. Further back, the second Frenchman on the grid, Sami Meguetounif (Trident), finished in 15th position.
