Arvid Lindblad takes another step towards Formula 1. According to the FIA press release, "The World Council considers that the driver has recently and regularly demonstrated exceptional abilities and maturity in formula racing competition. car » As a reminder, the Super Licence can only be granted, according to the regulations of the International Sporting Code, to a driver once he has reached the age of 18, a condition added after the start of Max Verstappen in F1 at 17 years old.

Red Bull has therefore filed an exemption request with the FIA, the same as Mercedes for Andrea Kimi Antonelli last season, which the FIA accepted. Article 13.1.2 of Appendix L of the International Sporting Code states that"at the sole discretion of the FIA, a driver judged to have recently and consistently demonstrated exceptional ability and maturity in Formula One racing car can be granted a Super License at the age of 17. »

Arvid Lindblad in F1 next season?

Rookie of Formula 2 This season, the native of Virginia Water, in the suburbs of London, is in third place in the general drivers' standings. He already has two victories (in the sprint race in Jeddah and the main race in Barcelona) and has received praise from several executives at Red Bull.

"If he continues like this, we can expect to see him move up to Formula 1. He may only be 17, but he has a lot of talent.", said Helmut Marko, head of the Red Bull academy, to the German press.

With Max Verstappen facing a possible suspension, a domino effect could see Arvid Lindblad make his Formula 1 debut this season with RB if Hadjar or Lawson replaces the Dutchman. A scenario that remains highly unlikely, however.
