Rick Treadway, who participated in the 2002 Indianapolis 500, died following a motorcycle accident.

Death of Rick Treadway, former Indy 500 driver

Treadway passed away at the age of 56. Son of Fred Treadway, whose cars achieved a one-two finish at the 1997 Indy 500 with Arie Luyendyk and Scott Goodyear, Rick Treadway participated in two seasons ofIndyCar, in 2001 and 2002. It was during this second year that he was able to participate for the first and only time in the Indy 500, for his father's team.

He made his IndyCar debut in 2001 at Kentucky Speedway and raced his last race in 2002 at the season finale at Texas Motor Speedway. His best result was a fifth-place finish in the 2001 season finale at Texas. Before joining IndyCar, Treadway raced in Formula 2000 and in various short-circuit open-wheel series, including the USAC Silver Crown and the National Midget Series. He also competed in SCCA events. The entire AUTOhebdo team extends its condolences to the family of Rick Treadway.
