Built around a conference center, the track's main feature is that it's the only circuit in the championship, or even the world, to offer both an outdoor and an indoor section. The start/finish straight, as well as the first and last turns of the circuit, are located within the ExCeL grounds. This provides a stadium-like experience for the circuit, with thousands of spectators enjoying a football match atmosphere.

" The Formula E has officially announced the extension of its contract with ExCeL London until at least 2026, allowing the world championship to continue using the world's first and only indoor-outdoor circuit until the end of the GEN3 Evo era., we can read in a press release confirming the new agreement. “This extension means the east London venue is set to host the final race on the Season 12 calendar, the last of the GEN3 Evo era, before the launch of GEN4 in late 2026.”

In recent years, the London circuit has hosted close title battles, particularly in 2024. Pascal Wehrlein narrowly won against the Jaguar Racing drivers. The latter were in a strong position, but several mistakes in the closing laps allowed the driver to Porsche to win. Jaguar was able to console itself with the teams' and constructors' titles.
