It was probably just a lap away. For Santiago Ramos, this victory was achieved thanks to a well-constructed race and a duel won against the previously unchallenged championship leader. Rafael Câmara started from pole position, but was overtaken by his Mexican counterpart, who had a better start. Although the Brazilian managed to regain the lead on lap four thanks to the formidable effectiveness of DRS on the straights, Ramos never lost ground to the leader. On each lap, the Van Amersfoort Racing driver remained less than a second behind Câmara, until lap 19 when his pace increased significantly.
Unfortunately for Rafael Câmara, who had won the first two main races of the season in Melbourne and Bahrain, second place could not be retained by him. Apparently, the driver of the Ferrari Driver Academy had been greedy with his tires. Guilty of a slight error, he was quickly overtaken by his teammate Noah Stromsted, who could have easily closed on Santiago Ramos. Finishing the race two tenths off the lead, the Dane had been the most effective in terms of tire management.
Giusti unstoppable
Seventh at the finish of the race, Alessandro Giusti was certainly the most impressive driver on the grid this Sunday morning. Starting 13th, the Frenchman notably overtook Nikola Tsolov (Campos) and then Noël Leone (Prema) to enter the points zone at the halfway point. Absolutely formidable, he then closed in on his rivals one after the other. At the end of the race, a final overtake on the outside allowed him to take seventh place ahead of Roman Bilinski (Rodin), finishing the event just three tenths behind the winner of Saturday's sprint race, Tim Tramnitz (MP Motorsport).
