Indy 500- Muñoz breaks 230 mph

Colombian Carlos Muñoz (Andretti Autosport? Honda) was the first to break the 230 mph (370,149 km/h) barrier during testing for the Indianapolis 500 yesterday. The 23-year-old driver is ahead of the American Townsend Bell (Dreyer & Reinbold-Kingdom Racing? Chevrolet) and the Brazilian Tony Kanaan (Chip Ganassi Racing? Chevrolet) at the end of this third session.

simon pagenaud (Team Penske? Chevrolet) sets the 7th time, 454 thousandths behind Munoz (above the 227 mph mark), while Sébastien Bourdais place your DW12? Chevrolet from KV Racing in 28th position.

The session was marked by two accidents. This very impressive one from the Brazilian Helio Castroneves (Team Penske) and that of Pippa Mann (Dale Coyne Racing – Honda) who hit the wall at the entrance to the pitlane.
