In view of next season, the officials of theIndyCar Series have made a number of changes to private testing to ensure fairness between teams. In detail, 18 days are now allocated for each team. These will be able to divide them between official test days, test days for engine manufacturers, those for teams or even full-scale wind tunnel tests.

The different training courses must respect a limit of 10 miles per engine (rule excluding tests devoted to development). These blocks can be mounted on any of their cars during the regulatory 000 days. Official testing will take place at Barber Motorsports Park, two weeks before the season opener in St. Petersburg on March 18.
