David “Salt” Walther died last Thursday at the age of 65. This American native of Ohio competed in the Indianapolis 500 seven times, notably taking ninth place in 1976 when the race was stopped on the 103rd lap due to rain. Salt remained infamous for his accident in 1973 during the famous American event where he suffered serious burns.
