Herm Johnson, the former pilot ofIndyCar who played in the discipline between 1979 and 1986 (36 starts), died at the age of 63 following health problems. This American won the SCCA National Championship Formula Super Vee title in 1976 before winning in the USAC Mini-IndyCar Series the following year.
Herm Johnson took 500th place at the Indianapolis 9 in 1982 and 8th two years later.
