The driver of the No. 10 Dallara-Chevrolet hit the wall on the outside of turn one, damaging his right-front suspension. Unable to turn, Kyle Larson was unable to avoid the wall in Turn 2, where his car came to a stop. The Hendrick Motorsports driver, who is entered at Indianapolis by Arrow McLaren, was unharmed, but will probably not be able to return to the track today to complete his tests.
Eighteenth in his first Indy 500 in 2024, Kyle Larson was named Rookie of the Year by the panel of journalists called to vote. After an extensive testing campaign, both real and in the simulator, ahead of his first race in IndyCar, the Californian himself admitted this Wednesday that he had not done a single lap on the Chevrolet simulator in North Carolina. An experience that he said he would not miss, despite the addition of the hybrid system on the single-seaters this year. It was during the morning session, reserved for qualifying simulations with increased turbo pressure, that Larson lost control of his machine.
