Collaboration between Hendrick Motorsports and Arrow McLaren, the "Hendrick 1100" was created last year, to support Kyle Larson's desire to participate in the two classic American races. While he took part in the Indianapolis 500, finishing eighteenth in his first raceIndyCar, the postponement of the Indy 500 prevented him from participating in the event NASCAR the same evening. Indeed, the downpour that delayed the race in Indianapolis arrived in Charlotte, North Carolina… at the same time as Larson, and the race was stopped permanently, before the 2021 Cup Series champion could even get behind the wheel.

Kyle Larson will therefore make his second attempt next May. If he manages to qualify for the Indy 500 and it takes place on schedule, he should be able to arrive at Charlotte Motor Speedway without any problems. After 500 miles (804 km) in Indianapolis, he would have "only" 600 miles (966 km) left to cover at the wheel of his stock car! A feat achieved only once in history, by Tony Stewart in 2001. All the other drivers to have attempted it (John Andretti, Robby Gordon and Kurt Busch) have retired in one of the two races, or have not completed the full distance, for example by losing a lap.

“HendrickCars.com doesn't change their livery often, but when they do, I feel like they go all out and it's definitely worth it.”, Larson said. “These cars look great, and I think it’s exciting to have a fresh look and a fresh start to kick off this year’s Hendrick 1100 effort. Everyone involved is very optimistic and motivated by this second chance at ‘Double Duty.’ We’re not focusing on last year. We’re focusing on all the opportunities that are in front of us today.”

Prime Video has joined the project's list of partners, and a behind-the-scenes documentary is expected to be released on the preparation and execution of this second "Double Duty." The online retail giant's streaming platform will broadcast the Coca-Cola 25 live and exclusively in the United States on May 600. This will be its first NASCAR race and the first time that an American championship event will be available exclusively via streaming.
