The draw for the qualifying groups for the French round of Superleague Formula took place yesterday in Magny-Cours. Group B will bring together nine pilots, including the French Franck Montagny (Girondins de Bordeaux), Tristan Gommendy (Galatasaray) and Franck Perera (Flamengo). They will face, this Saturday afternoon, Craig Dolby (Tottenham), Max Wissel (FC Bale), Yelmer Buurman (AC Milan), Chris Van der Drift (Olympiakos), James Walker (Liverpool) and Robert Doornbos (Corinthians) .
In group B two French people will be placed: Sébastien Bourdais (Olympique Lyonnais) and Julien Jousse (AS Roma). They will face competition from Davide Rigon (Anderlecht), Marcos Martinez (FC Sevilla), Borja Garcia (SC Portugal), Alvaro Parente (FC Porto), Mario de Villota (Atletico Madrid) and John Martin (Beijing Guaon). Only eight cars will compete due to the absence of PSV Eindhoven.
Qualifying will take place this Saturday afternoon on the Nivernais circuit. The top four from each group will advance to the quarter-finals of the competitive tournament. The pole sitter will be known after the semi-finals and the final. The starting grid for the first race will be established based on this classification.
