Starting from pole position, Evan Giltaire (ART) managed to avoid being caught out. In a race marked by the deployment of three safety cars, the Frenchman was not caught out. Despite being under pressure throughout the race, the FFSA Academy driver held his own against Freddie Slater's sustained pace, posting a string of fastest laps from second place. The Briton had indeed significantly increased his speed in the closing laps, setting a race record on the final loop.
Behind the two leaders, the race was marked by numerous overtaking moves, and some sometimes overly presumptuous maneuvers. While Matteo De Palo was able to maintain his third place, despite being distanced at the end of the race, Rashid Al Dhaheri (Prema) was unable to make the desired comeback. The Emirati driver, like Akshay Bohra (R-ACE GP), was hit by the British driver Dion Gowda who was approaching a corner with too much speed. Shortly after a close duel between these three men, this contact triggered the second Safety Car of the event after the one due to the solo accident of Giovanni Maschio (RPM).
Also of note was the duel that punctuated this second race at Misano between Pedro Clerot (VAR) and Nikita Bedrin (Saintéloc Racing), with the Brazilian winning to claim fifth place. Ahead of him, Frenchman Enzo Deligny (R-ACE GP) managed to hold onto his fourth position. In total, four drivers did not see the checkered flag, including Tim Gerhards (Saintéloc Racing) for the second time in two races this weekend.
At the end of this first of ten FRECA season events, Evan Giltaire leaves Misano leading the championship thanks to his two top-two finishes. The next event will take place at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit from May 2 to 16.
