A gigantic fire has struck the city of Colorado Springs, in the United States, since last weekend, to the point of threatening the holding of the legendary Pikes Peak hill climb next week (July 4-8).
32 residents have already had to be evacuated, 000 homes have been ravaged by flames, and 30 heads of livestock have been killed by the fire which is still not brought under control by firefighters.

Tom Osborne, president of the Pikes Peak race, is nevertheless confident: “We remain optimistic about the holding of the 90th edition of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb following the information provided to us by the mayor of Colorado Springs, Steve Bach, and the official representatives of the city. We are in permanent contact with them and are following the development of the situation live. Our hearts go out to the hundreds of men and women who are doing their best to fight these wild fires, as well as the city’s residents.”

As it stands, Tom Osborne specifies that the Pikes Peak race facilities are not affected, and that they are therefore fully operational.
