Third in qualifying last week on the same Silverstone track, Mick Schumacher (Prema Racing) was the fastest in free practice for the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix this Friday. The son of the Red Baron beat the Swiss Louis Deletraz (Charouz) and the Briton Dan Ticktum (DAMS), winner of race 2 last Sunday.

The Le Mans team, which has been struggling a little since the start of the season on a fast lap, did a good job by also placing Sean Gelael in the Top 5 (5th). ART Grand Prix, the other French team, saw Christian Lundgaard take the 10th fastest time and Armstrong the 14th. For his part, championship leader Robert Shwartzman set the 4th fastest time of the session.

Note that the commissioners had to wave the red flag once in the second part of the session. The engine of Marino Sato's Dallara (Trident) actually caught fire in a few seconds. The Japanese pilot fortunately managed to quickly escape from his car without damage.
