Twenty-four hours after the first qualifying session was canceled due to a damaged barrier, the second session of the weekend was able to take place in good conditions. Weather-wise, however, rain was one of the deciding factors. Group A ran after Group B and benefited from a milder track. As a result, Rashid Al Dhaheri completed a lap nearly three seconds faster than Hiyu Yamakoshi (VAR). The Japanese driver, who led Group B, will still start from the front row this afternoon.
Already positioned on the front row on Saturday, Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP) once again put in a fine performance, coming within a tenth of his group's benchmark time. Consistent, the Frenchman will start from fourth position, and can once again expect a strong race this Sunday.
Among the favorites, there were several disappointments. Only seventh in Group B, Freddie Slater (Prema) will have to make some thoughtful moves to secure a good result. Winner of the first race of the weekend, the Briton was unable to break away from the pack as the times began to fall one after the other towards the end of the session.
Finally, for Evan Giltaire, this session quickly turned into a nightmare. Having made a mistake five minutes from the end of the session, the Frenchman damaged his car and saw his time canceled following this incident. Rarely, the ART GP rider went off in the gravel trap just seconds before Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi (Trident) and Pedro Clerot (VAR). Championship leader Giltaire will therefore start from the back of the grid, as will Clerot, currently third overall. The race will be available to follow from 16:15 p.m. (French time).
