St Petersburg, FP2: McLaughlin flies, Grosjean crashed

While waiting for qualifying scheduled for this Saturday at 18:30 p.m. (French time), the drivers ofIndyCar had a final free practice session to negotiate. In the lead the day before with the 8th time, Scott McLaughlin was the main facilitator of this final training session on the Florida track.

Entered for his second season in IndyCar, the Penske driver dominated the timesheet with a best lap of 2, thus running faster than the official track record. Under the checkerboard, Scott McLaughlin beat Colton Hertha (Andretti) and simon pagenaud (Meyer Shank Racing) by a little more than 3 tenths.

In addition to the New Zealander's record, this second session was marked by a few incidents on the track. Often hampered by traffic, Romain Grosjean (Andretti) ended up making a mistake by spearing Takuma Sato (Dale Coyne) causing a red flag. In the end, the Habs ranked 19th with a best lap of 1'00"797.

The session was also neutralized after the accidents of Jack Harvey (RLL) and Alex Palou (Chip Ganassi Racing). Both men made mistakes at turn 9 of the St Petersburg circuit.
