While rain delayed the start of activities on Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway, race management decided to cancel qualifying which was to be held from 21 p.m. (HF).
The championship standings will decide the starting order, and its leader, Alex Palou (Chip Ganassi Racing), will therefore start at the front alongside Will Power (Penske), and Scott Dixon (CGR). This will also be the case on Sunday, for the second race of this doubleheader.
The only free practice session started around 20:30 p.m., almost two hours late.
The start of the first oval race of the season has been brought forward to 1:10 a.m. (HF), if rain does not disrupt the weekend program again.
