Last factory to use an inline four-cylinder engine in MotoGPYamaha has never hidden the fact that the V4 represents an important area of development. While the Iwata company does not yet know whether it will use it in racing, it has begun an intensive on-track development program in recent weeks, in order to begin comparing its performance to the new one.
While wild cards are not expected to use it in racing for the time being, this new engine offers an important opportunity for the Japanese brand to develop a new philosophy with a view to returning to 850cc in 2027. V4s could then have contaminated the entire grid by then!
