Given Honda's struggles in recent seasons, a podium finish at Termas de Río Hondo could be considered miraculous for the Japanese factory. And yet, after Johann Zarco's poor start, one might almost have thought that the third step of the Sprint podium would have been his foregone conclusion, ahead of Francesco Bagnaia on the dominating Ducati GP25. Speaking to Canal+, the number 5 was delighted with this first battle of the weekend. Because if we can afford to want more, it's because the package at his disposal is only getting better.

"This gives even more hope. The fact that the sensations on the bike are improving is important for me because I am always trying to think about how to better use this MotoGP. It remains an exceptional bike, even if there are some that are better than others, we say to ourselves that the Honda must still be good. It has progressed, and I am happy to use it well. We will see tomorrow if we can continue on this path, and give ourselves some happiness.

Happiness, that's what few observers promised the Cannes driver when he decided to join Honda at the end of 2023. Now, it's on the track that he's once again leading the battle for the Japanese manufacturer, which is also finally back in the top 10 with its factory team. Now sixth in the championship, Johann Zarco has every right to aim for the podium on Sunday, so as the saying goes, let's hope it lasts!
