At the end of 2020, Fabio Di Giannantonio came out of a terrible season in Moto2 which he finished in 15th place in the general classification. The great momentum of his debut has been broken and with 4 retirements in the last 5 races, he is not really attracting the desire of the teams. The Roman will show extraordinary determination to convince the team that gave him his first chance in Moto3, Team Gresini, to offer him one last chance.
Born on October 10, 1998 in Rome, Di Giannantonio is a child of the ball since at only 11 years old, he was crowned European Junior Mini Moto Champion, before winning the Honda HIRP 100cc trophy the following year. His career continues brilliantly in the Italian 250cc, in the European Moto3 championship and in Red Bull Rookies Cup. By taking 2nd place in this highly competitive cup in 2015, he saw himself opening the doors to the world championship with Gresini. Podiums and first victory followed one another until the 2018 season when “Diggia” finished runner-up, earning his ticket to Moto2. Rookie of the year 2019, he approaches 2020 with confidence but will quickly become disillusioned.
Relaunched by Gresini in 2021, Fabio was able to reward his employer's confidence with a fine 7th place finish which allowed him to make his big debut in Moto GP last season.
2022 therefore saw Di Giannantonio sign his first pole position at Mugello. An exploit that remained without follow-up, there is no doubt about the Italian's burst of speed. At 24, all he has to do is prove that he deserves to keep his place in the elite.
