The recovery was perhaps a little rushed. Joan Mir, injured in his right ankle following his crash at the Austrian Grand Prix, has decided not to continue his weekend at MotorLand. The Spaniard made his return to the Suzuki after having already withdrawn from Misano. The pain being too strong, the 2020 world champion finally threw in the towel before the start of qualifying for the Aragon Grand Prix.

“Joan withdrew from the Aragon Grand Prix after suffering with pain from his injured right ankle. He will also not participate in the next Japanese Grand Prix. We know this decision was not easy to make, and we all wish him a speedy recovery." shared the Suzuki team on social networks. Joan Mir will therefore miss the next two races. The Spaniard was however in respectable times, less than a second from the best, but believes he cannot last the length of an entire race.
