The first man to break the 1:44 lap barrier at Mugello, Marco Bezzecchi may have been helped in Saturday's qualifying session by the colors on Alex Zanardi's helmet, which he proudly sports this weekend at the Italian Grand Prix. The former driver of Formula 1, double champion in IndyCar and four-time Paralympic gold medalist, passed away on May 1st, at the age of 59.

Bezzecchi wanted to pay tribute to him at home, and since Saturday morning he has been wearing Zanardi's helmet. Although he finished just off the podium in the sprint race, there is no doubt that he will be eager to get on the podium this Sunday and to hold up to the crowd the helmet of the man who, especially after his accident in September 2001 (in which he lost both legs), became one of the greatest examples of resilience and fighting spirit seen in the last 25 years.
