The regulations stipulate that riders must maintain a minimum tire pressure for at least 60% of the Grand Prix. Viñales failed to comply with the rule, receiving a sixteen-second penalty. The Spanish rider thus slipped to fifteenth place, scoring only a single point this Sunday. Marc Márquez logically retained his victory, ahead of Francesco Bagnaia and Franco Morbidelli, with Ducati once again securing a full podium with Demosedicis.
Johann Zarco now moves up to fourth place overall, just a few tenths away from what would have been his first podium finish with Honda. Viñales has therefore no longer been on the podium with four different manufacturers, he who is already the first rider to have won a Grand Prix with three different manufacturers (Suzuka, Yamaha and Aprilia) in the era MotoGP.
