The Portuguese rider crashed on Saturday after being taken out by Fermín Aldeguer (Gresini Ducati). The Spaniard lost the front end while riding alongside the No. 88 Yamaha, taking Oliveira with him into the gravel. While a broken collarbone was suspected, further examinations at the Santiago del Estero hospital revealed no fracture, but a large bruise on the left collarbone.
Doctors, concerned about the ligaments in his shoulder, have decided not to allow Miguel Oliveira to start the Grand Prix this Sunday. The Portuguese will return home this Sunday for a battery of additional tests. A new injury for the man who won Tech3's first victory in MotoGP would have gone well. The starting grid for the Argentine Grand Prix, tonight at 19 p.m., will therefore only have 21 motorcycles following the withdrawal of Oliveira, who will not be replaced.
