Once again, the starting grid for the Grand Prix of the Americas will be missing all the regular drivers. In addition to the still-injured Jorge Martin, Miguel Oliveira will also be missing. Yamaha diagnosed him with a sternoclavicular joint injury left, which requires some rest. "First of all, I would like to thank the team and the doctors who took care of me," said Miguel Oliveira. "Back home, I had an MRI scan that revealed a dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint with ruptured ligaments. Obviously, we studied the fastest recovery options and decided to immobilize my arm for a while. The recovery time is unpredictable, as we have to wait for my body's biological response. We will evaluate the situation weekly. We are working to get back on track as soon as possible, but the main goal remains my recovery and my return to 100% fitness."
The Pramac rider will be replaced by Augusto Fernandez, who has been a Yamaha test rider for the past two seasons after riding for Tech3. “First of all, I would like to extend my best wishes for a successful recovery to Miguel. I hope he can return very soon. assures the Moto2 world champion in 2022. I also thank Yamaha and Pramac for this opportunity. Austin is an incredible circuit, and I can't wait to get back on the M1. I'm very excited about this race weekend."
