The Prima Pramac Yamaha team will once again have to do without Miguel Oliveira for the Spanish Grand Prix in MotoGPThe Portuguese driver, who suffered a sternoclavicular dislocation in his left shoulder during the Sprint in Argentina in mid-March, has chosen to continue his rehabilitation.

Immobilized from the shoulder for several weeks, medical examinations carried out in recent days have confirmed that Oliveira must wait a little longer before considering a return to the track. Deemed unfit to resume competition despite the progress of his rehabilitation, the number 88 will therefore miss his third consecutive weekend in MotoGP..

It is therefore Augusto Fernandez, Yamaha test rider, who will take over on the interim basis on the YZR-M1 of the Iwata satellite team, like the confirms Pramac Racing this Tuesday morning. Already called up as reinforcement in Austin and then in Qatar, the Spaniard will this time have the chance to ride in front of his home crowd.

The Iberian, who scored his first points for Yamaha at the Texas round, will be tasked with continuing to gain experience on the bike and improving the M1 ahead of next Monday's Official Test, which will take place on the same track.

Pramac Racing's medical staff have not specified a return date for Oliveira, but hope remains that he will reappear at the French Grand Prix at Le Mans on the weekend of May 11.

The Portuguese driver won't be the only one absent from the Spanish Grand Prix, as reigning world champion Jorge Martín will also be sidelined this weekend. Following his heavy crash in Qatar, the number one driver is still in Doha. Recently released from hospital, he is preparing for his return to Europe to begin his rehabilitation.
