Following the cancellation of the 2024 World Championship final in Valencia, the World Championship MotoGP announced some good news for the Spanish site.
On the sidelines of the 2025 GP of the Americas, the sport has formalized the extension of its contract with the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia until 2031. This new agreement guarantees the organization of five additional Grands Prix on the Spanish circuit between 2027 and 2031.
This is an important announcement for the region, given the sad events of last October, when the region was hit by devastating floods.
"There is no other Grand Prix that sells out as far in advance as Valencia, recalls Carlos Mazón, President of the Valencian Generalitat, via the official announcement. There is a huge fan base and a love for motorcycle racing here. This is fundamental for Valencia, for Cheste, for the province of Valencia and for the Valencian Community."
The last time MotoGP visited Valencia was in 2023, when Pecco Bagnaia won his second world title, defeating his direct rival, Jorge Martin.
“We are very pleased to announce our future in Valencia, continues Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, holder of the MotoGP rights. The circuit is unique with the view it offers spectators, and the fans make it unique for us with the incredible atmosphere they create."
This contract extension does not specify whether the Valencia Grand Prix will retain its place as the season-closing event. However, this is unlikely to change, for numerous logistical reasons.
