Acropolis – SS14: Tänak gives everything, Evans gives up!

Ott Tänak is on the attack this Sunday morning and set the best time during SS14, but Thierry Neuville did not lose much time. Elfyn Evans retired with a turbo problem even before the start!

Les deux hommes de tête sont à l’attaque ! Si on pouvait croire que des consignes d’équipes pouvaient être données chez Hyundai, Thierry Neuville et Ott Tänak quickly responded on the track with the two best times, far ahead of the rest of the peloton. It was the Estonian who was the fastest with a time of 10'05"3 during SS14, ahead of the Belgian by only 2"9. A gap too small to really worry Neuville, who still has a 25 second lead overall with 2 special stages remaining.

La bataille attendue entre Dani Sordo et Elfyn Evans pour le podium n’aura même pas eu lieu. Le Gallois n’a pas pu prendre le départ à cause d’un problème de turbo et a dû abandonner ! Un nouveau coup dur pour Toyota qui vit son pire rally of the season. No official Toyota (except Katsuta, member of the Next Generation team) is in the top 10 overall! 

The retirement of Elfyn Evans means that Pierre-Louis Loubet moves up to 4th place overall. Craig Breen joins the top 5, one minute behind his French teammate.
