  • Kalle Rovanperä is giving up a little ground on these last stages of the Rally from the Canary Islands. The Finn suffered two consecutive defeats on SS16 and SS17. Sébastien Ogier won the penultimate special stage of the Spanish event with a 1″0 lead over his teammate at Toyota. Nevertheless, the eight-time world champion still has a significant 49 seconds deficit over Kalle Rovanperä before the Power Stage. In the Super Sunday standings, Kalle Rovanperä still has a 5 seconds advantage over the Frenchman.
  • The big loser of SS17 is Thierry Neuville ! The Belgian suffered a front-left puncture midway through the race, after going through a drop-off, and lost more than a minute with this mishap. The reigning world champion is now in 7th place in the general classification behind Ott Tänak, while he seemed in a good position to take 5th place against Adrien fourmauxAbove all, Thierry Neuville will not be able to score points on this Super Sunday with such a delay. The driver Hyundai will have to give everything in the Power Stage to try to save the day.
  • Before SS17, the track of karting Maspalomas hosted SS16 for the second Super Special of the weekend, the day after the one held in Las Palmas in a basketball arena. A special for the fans, for the show... and for the French, since Sébastien Ogier, Adrien Fourmaux and also Yohan Rossel set the best time on SS16! Aboard his Citroën C3 Rally2, the Nîmes driver achieved his first overall scratch in WRC, while Sébastien Ogier recorded the 750th special stage victory of his career. Kalle Rovanperä, who set the 9th time at 0 seconds, has therefore only been defeated on the Super Special Stages so far on this Rally of the Canary Islands.
