Two years and then gone. EA Sports announced Wednesday that it will no longer produce the official game of the WRCThe American developer had acquired the license for the World Rally Championship in 2023 and had produced the game EA Sports WRC, released on October 31, 2023. Since then, EA Sports – via Codemasters, the development company responsible for the game – had chosen not to release a second opus but rather to update the one already available, with new regular content and even a DLC (downloadable content) “Season 2024” with the updated Rally1 / Rally2 and the new WRC rounds.

Sadly, less than two years after the game's release, the adventure between EA Sports / Codemasters and the WRC has already come to an end. “Every great journey eventually finds its finish line, and today we announce that we have reached the end of the road working on [the video game] WRC, can be read in the press release published by EA Sports on Wednesday. For now, we are pausing development plans for future games. rallyRest assured that EA Sports WRC will remain available for current and new players. We hope it continues to bring the joy, excitement, and intensity of rallying. We've poured our hearts into it for the fans, and we know you'll keep that passion alive."

For its part, the championship also took to social media to formalize the end of its partnership with EA Sports and Codemasters. The WRC must now find a new development studio so that an official game can be released on PC and consoles. “Over the past three years, WRC has been elevated to another level in the world of video games thanks to the investment of EA Sports and Codemasters, indicates the WRC. From now on, our WRC video game franchise will take a new and ambitious direction, with more information to come in the near future.”
