SS8: Ogier is still gaining ground

Sébastien Ogier (Ford) scored his second scratch at the end of SS8 Rally Monte-Carlo (St-Léger-les-Mélèzes – La-Bâtie-Neuve), last route of the second stage, completing the 16,83km in 11'05''4. The pilot M-Sport took again more than 7 seconds to Thierry Neuville (Hyundai). The leader of the event claims to have lost around ten seconds having had engine problems including a turbo failure. Ott Tänak (Ford) finished 12 seconds behind the Hyundai driver and almost 20 seconds behind his teammate.

Finishing 7''5 behind the Estonian, Dani Sordo (Hyundai) took 13 seconds back Craig Breen (DS 3) who slipped into a ditch. Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) finished 37 seconds behind the Frenchman after spinning.

On the evening of the second stage, Thierry Neuville retains the lead of the Monte-Carlo Rally by 45 seconds over Sébastien Ogier who took second place from Ott Tänak by 3 tenths. Jari-Matti Latvala remains well established in 4th place ahead of Dani Sordo who regained 5th place for 6 seconds ahead of Craig Breen.
