As every year since 2021, the Rally The Kenyan Grand Prix opened with the Super Special Stage held near the capital Nairobi. This was an opportunity for the public to see local drivers compete on a 4,76-kilometer course, as well as representatives from WRC in action.

In this game, it was Elfyn Evans who proved to be the fastest. In the final duel of the morning and facing Thierry Neuville, the Welshman got the better of the reigning world champion to set the best time of SS1 in 3'09, ahead of his rival and Kalle Rovanperä by 1"5.

This necessarily makes the pilot Toyota the first leader of this Kenya Rally even if this first special should not really have an impact on the battle for victory in a weekend composed of 21 special stages, contested on the sand of Safari which can sometimes trap the competitors. Ott Tänak and Grégoire Munster complete the Top 5 at 2 and 2 behind Elfyn Evans.
