While Toyota fly over from the beginning this Rally of Kenya 2025, the Japanese brand experienced all sorts of misfortunes in the sixteenth special, the sixth and final this Saturday. For this second pass in Soysambu, Takamoto Katsuta was the first to start for Toyota, and he quickly suffered a puncture. The Japanese driver dropped 2'19″5 in this SS16, and he also lost his place on the provisional podium, to the benefit of Hyundai de Thierry NeuvilleAs in the previous special, Kalle Rovanperä drove slowly to preserve his machine, which had suffered a left-rear injury. He will reach the service park in fifth place overall.

Only Elfyn Evans managed to limit the damage, but he still lost 53 seconds. The Welshman suffered a problem with his windshield washer fluid. Racing the entire end of the stage with a lot of mud ahead of him, Evans had to slow down to find his way several times. The advantage therefore goes to Hyundai, who now have two cars on the podium, and with a busy Sunday, including five stages, anything can still happen.
