Kenya - SS20: Katsuta asserts himself before the Power Stage

The Japanese driver won the 20th and penultimate special stage of this Safari Rally Kenya ahead of Adrien Fourmaux. In the Super Sunday standings, nothing is decided between Fourmaux, Katsuta, and Neuville: the three drivers are separated by six tenths of a second.

Takamoto Katsuta is in his own backyard on the Oserengoni special stage. Having already set the fastest time this morning on the first run, the Japanese driver did it again on SS20, the penultimate stage of this Safari Rally Kenya. Like this morning, the driver Toyota narrowly beat Adrien fourmaux by six tenths and asserts itself as a potential candidate for the five points of the Power Stage (start at 12:15 p.m., French time).
The Frenchman, for his part, is in good form this Sunday despite his two retirements on Thursday and Friday. The driver Hyundai is now leading the Super Sunday standings… but his lead is very fragile, since Takamoto Katsuta and Thierry Neuville are respectively three and six tenths behind Adrien Fourmaux in this additional classification. Everything remains to be done during the Power Stage!
In addition to these three drivers, the others managed their bikes and their tires on this penultimate special stage, likeOtt Tänak (+9″8) and Elfyn Evans (+27″7). The Welshman took advantage of his large lead to adopt a light pace before the Power Stage: it remains to be seen whether the Toyota driver will take risks on this last stage to seek points, or if he will ensure victory in Kenya by leaving the small points of Sunday to his rivals.
