- Six out of six for Kalle Rovanperä who had a perfect Friday on this Safari Rally! The Finn won a 6th consecutive scratch during SS7 and further extends his lead in the general classification.
- After this first day of rally, the two-time reigning world champion is 56″9 ahead of Elfyn Evans and 1’00″8 over Takamoto Katsuta, and therefore leads a triple Toyota.
- The only Hyundai survivor of this dark afternoon in the Korean clan, that of Thierry Neuville, is in 4th place in this Kenya Rally. The Belgian, who suffered a puncture in the morning, saved the furniture despite a disadvantageous starting position, and remained in contact with the podium, just 6″5 behind Takamoto Katsuta.
- Adrien fourmaux, who played it safe today, set the 5th time in this 7th special and is currently ranked 5th in the general classification, 1'46″6 behind Kalle Rovanperä.
