Kenya – SS8: Tänak takes flight

Clearly, no one can keep up Ott Tänak this Friday. The Estonian has just struck hard again by securing a fourth scratch in six special stages this Friday at the Safari Rally Kenya. Very comfortable on the Kenyan sand, the 2019 world champion hammered home the victory on SS8, beating Elfyn Evans by 2 seconds to give himself even more breathing space at the top of the general classification.

With this new scratch under his belt, Ott Tänak now holds the lead over everyone by more than 45 seconds. A first in this edition for him. His runner-up, Elfyn Evans, is 46 seconds behind with two stages remaining.

In contention for the podium, Kalle Rovanperä lost 5 seconds to Elfyn Evans but consolidated his third place overall thanks to the new penalty of Thierry NeuvilleThe Belgian was caught by the patrol for the third time of the day, this time for having arrived 5 minutes late at TC8, receiving a 50-second penalty. The driver Hyundai remains 4th but is 1'12 behind the provisional Top 3.
